One guy actually asked me if there were any otehr supermarkets in the area besides Jewel (eight others within three miles). I noted that there were a number of different types of shoppers.įirst, some would go to only one store because that is "where they always shopped." They were pretty much always going to shop there.
Never ever Cub unless I have too.Ī few years ago, I was paid to sit the middle of the bakery section of a Jewel store in Chicago and interview a lot of customers as they were shopping. In the Midwest I go to Costco, Aldi's (terrible selection for local standards), and Walmart Superstores. But at the end of the day, I don't want to shop at 4 spots. But their glass canned fruit cocktails, red sauces, chips, cheeses, are all solid.
